Refund policy

Returns and refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Because we are a small business and primarily sell used books, most items are not eligible for returns/refunds. However, if there is an issue with your order, please reach out to us at hello@chapterhousebookstore.com so we can work with you to find a solution.

 

Items eligible for return

Any books sold as "New" condition.

Any books sold as "Very Good" condition.

Any incorrect orders.

 

Return policy

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return, you can contact us at hello@chapterhousebookstore.com. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Please carefully note the advertised condition and any noted defects of the book you are buying. Any damages already noted in the item's description are not eligible for a return.


Exceptions / non-returnable items
Books sold in Good condition and below are non-returnable, unless you received the wrong item.

Any damages received due to the package not being collected in a timely manner (e.g. left on a doorstep for a week during inclement weather) are not eligible for returns.

Any items purchased outside of this website, such as from Bookshop.org, are not handled by us. If there is an issue with your Bookshop.org order, please contact Bookshop.


Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
